Overview
Thattekad Bird Sanctuary — described by ornithologist Salim Ali as the richest bird habitat on the Indian subcontinent — shelters over 300 species including several found nowhere else on earth.
Your guide is a lifelong birder who knows every trail, every fruiting tree and every calling perch in the sanctuary. The 5-hour circuit covers riverine forest, bamboo groves and open grassland, maximising the variety of habitats explored.
Binoculars and a field guide are provided. All you need to bring is patience, a sense of wonder, and comfortable shoes.
